Hi Juliette, thanks for your comment.

This blog post and the blog its on is dedicated to discussing jobs and benefits related to Northern Gateway. If you're interested in discussing other issues related to the project, there are five other subject themes listed in the menu on the left, including the Oil and Energy blog which includes posts on Enbridge's efforts in the renewable energy sector, like this one: http://www.northerngateway.ca/news-and-media/northern-gateway-blogs/oil-and-energy/enbridge-generates-more-solar-power/

Respectfully, we disagree with the statement "the vast majority don't want this pipeline." A January 2012, independent nation-wide poll found support for the project is greater than opposition: http://www.northerngateway.ca/news-and-media/northern-gateway-blogs/trade-diversification-for-canada/strong-support-for-northern-gateway-poll/

Another poll found that 75 per cent of Canadians believe Canada should diversify its energy export markets beyond the United States, which is what Northern Gateway will help to achieve: http://www.lfpress.com/news/canada/2012/02/01/19326076.html

Enough about jobs already! We get it, the pipeline will create jobs...so will alternative energy, and at much less of a risk. How about you try asking Canadians. The vast majority don't want this pipeline and last I checked, we're still a democracy. This should be up to the entire country, not just those who will benefit from it.
I'm sure this comment will be suppressed, but at least someone somewhere will see it. For shame.

I believe boosting refinery capacity on site at the Tar Sands......then use the refined product to produce Electricity.......feed the Electricity into the National Grid system....any thing left over sell it to the US (ELECTRICITY that is)...this way no pipelines, no tankers and Canadian jobs into perpetuity...I believe this is the safest way to proceed.....in the mean time continue to look for alternate energy.....let's lead by example and help keep Canada clean.
