Loading and Unloading Cargo
During the loading and unloading of cargo, the Northern Gateway Terminal will operate according to industry best practices and will employ internationally recognized safety measures.
- Once vessels are moored securely and all loading or unloading preparations have been completed between terminal staff and the vessel’s cargo officer, the cargo transfer arms will be manoeuvred into position and connected to the vessel
- Floating environmental protection systems will be deployed prior to loading and unloading to ensure the protection of the surrounding marine environment
- Cargo operations will typically take 18 to 24 hours, depending on the vessel’s size and flow rate
