Double-hulled

The Northern Gateway Terminal will only accept double-hulled vessels into port.

  • Double-hulled vessels decrease the risk of cargo being released into the environment by being transported within an interior space protected by double sides and double bottom spaces
  • The storage areas are divided in compartments to further protect the marine environment
  • International regulations require all new deep sea tankers be double-hulled by 2015.
